Three-dimensional work has always appealed to me more.
My favorite medium is clay; to me, its tactile flexibility is
orgasmic. I find it also to be one of the most brittle and fragile building materials. For various reasons, I have
never got my clay works fired, to make the more tenacious terra cotta out of them.
As
a result, I find myself with only these few documentations, in spite of the substantial number of sculptural works
I have actually done in my life.
On the top right of this page is a work
from a group of assimilations I had made over the last year of college. It is a piece
of twig collected in the woods around campus; hoisted on a bit of coconut shell.

CARVED WOOD COMPOSITIONS with Face & Hand - ht.10" |
|
"Beg" |
At one
point I was experimenting with carving cheap wood, and these wood works were originally part of the legs of
my bed!
The head and the
hand are separate
pieces - so as to compose them in a variety of positions, each with a different idea
or mood to communicate.
This piece has grown to be one of my favorites; it is like an alive human being!
The surface has been finished with lacquer and paint.
